KAMS is a member-based, regional ACCHS providing support and representing the interests of independent Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations from across the Kimberley region.

Beagle Bay Futures Indigenous Corporation

Beagle Bay community has a population of around 360 people and is located on the west coast of the Dampier Peninsula, approximately 120 kilometres north of Broome. Clinical services at Beagle Bay Health Centre have been provided by KAMS on behalf of the community since 1985. The Beagle Bay Futures Indigenous Corporation is a member of KAMS and has representation on the KAMS Board of Directors.  

Beagle Bay Health Centre is a comprehensive Primary Health Care service staffed by General Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners. The health centre also facilitates regular visiting services and outreach support in partnership with regional stakeholders.

Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community La Grange

Bidyadanga is located approximately 190 kilometres south of Broome and is the largest remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia. Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community La Grange Inc (BACLG) was incorporated in 1975 to administer government-funded programs such as day care, municipal services, Centrelink and Australia Post agencies. A Council of community representatives governs the organisation, made up of two members from each of the five language groups residing in the community.

Clinical services at Bidyadanga Health Centre have been provided by KAMS since 1985. The Council is a KAMS member and has representation on the KAMS Board. The centre delivers comprehensive Primary Health Care with GPs, Registered Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners, and integrated SEWB services. 

Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) logo.

Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS)

BRAMS has been caring for the Broome community since 1978 as the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. It delivers culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support. BRAMS provides tens of thousands of services annually. 

Its experienced team includes Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners, GPs, Nurses, Psychologists, SEWB Counsellors, NDIS support workers, and Public Health Officers. Services include clinic consultations, women’s health, chronic disease programs, transport and specialist access coordination.

Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS)

Opened in December 1998, DAHS was established by and for Aboriginal people to promote wellbeing and empower communities through prevention, management, and holistic care. Services include maternal and child health, women’s health, chronic disease, and sexual health. 

DAHS integrates curative and preventative care using the MMEx database. Transport and outreach are key functions, supporting regular visits to Jarlmadangah Buru, Pandanus Park, and the Gibb River communities of Kupungarri, Imintji, Ngallagunda, Dodnun and Kandiwal. DAHS also contributes to Kimberley-wide SEWB and workforce initiatives.

Milliya Rumurra Aboriginal Corporation

Milliya Rumurra means First Day or and New Day. Milliya Rumurra is an Alcohol and Other Drug Rehabilitation Centre located in Broome within the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. It was established in 1978 to provide support to individuals and families affected by alcohol or other drugs.

Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services

Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services Pty Ltd was created by communities on the Dampier Peninsula to deliver community-controlled, place-based services. Incorporated in 2014, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation (established in 1993). Governance is provided by a Board elected from the membership.

Now a significant Aboriginal employer in the Kimberley, Nirrumbuk strengthens social, environmental and public health through programs driven by Aboriginal leadership. Its objective is to build autonomy, health and wellbeing for all Aboriginal people.

Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS)

OVAHS provides comprehensive, culturally informed primary health care to the East Kimberley region. Services are prioritised based on need and consider physical, mental, and social wellbeing. 

Programs include maternal and child health, chronic disease, SEWB, AOD, mental health, and FASD prevention. Outreach is provided to Doon Doon, Glen Hill and Molly Springs. Staff include Doctors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Nurses, Audiologists, and Social Support teams. OVAHS evolved from East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS) and changed its name in 2001.

Yura Yungi Medical Service (YYMS)

Yura Yungi Medical Service in Halls Creek offers holistic and culturally appropriate care, integrating curative and preventative programs. Established in 1987, it delivers maternal and child health, chronic disease, sexual health and other public health services. 

Outreach and transport services extend to Ringer Soak, Redhill, Nicholson Block, and Mardiwah Loop. First aid kits and pharmaceuticals are also provided to outstations. YYMS plays a key role in local primary health networks with a strong cultural focus.
