About

Lorraine is descended from the Palawa people of Tasmania through her father’s side and attended the University of Auckland and studied science and education and then went on to Medicine. During her time at university, she was actively involved in the Student Parent Association and was a member of a planning group to develop and initiated a bi-lingual day care centre for the children of University Students. Following medical school, she spent some time in Washington DC working at level 1 Trauma Centre, then returned to rural New Zealand and worked in a base hospital for 2 years. In 1999 she developed and opened a purpose built multidisciplinary Primary Care facility, expanding to two sites in 2002. She has lived in remote Western Australia for the last 19 years working as a remote generalist.

Lorraine started work in Australia in Newman and then Wickham in the Pilbara, then moving to the Indian Ocean Territories for 3 years, following which she covered maternity leave for the SMO at Mawarnkarra Health Service in Roebourne.

Lorraine joined Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services as the Executive Manager Clinical Services, Medical Director in 2019. She is passionate about Public Health and Primary Care as it applies to Aboriginal Health and loves living and working in the Kimberley.
