Edith Skeen

Director representing YYMS

Edith Skeen is a respected Aboriginal community leader from Halls Creek in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and serves as a Director of Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) and Kimberley Renal Services (KRS). She brings deep cultural knowledge, strong community connections and extensive experience in Aboriginal governance to her Board roles.
 
Edith is the Chairperson of Yura Yungi Medical Service and a Director for the East Cultural Bloc of Aarnja. She is also a member of the Kimberley Land Council Representative Council. Her leadership spans health, land and regional governance, providing a strong understanding of community expectations, cultural authority and cross-system coordination.
 
With professional experience as an Aboriginal Development Officer, Edith brings practical expertise in community engagement, service access and local decision-making structures. Her work reflects a strong commitment to culturally safe, community-led approaches that respond to the needs of remote and regional communities.
 
As a Board Director, Edith provides culturally informed guidance, supports strong governance and accountability, and contributes to strategic oversight grounded in community priorities. She is known for her considered leadership style and her focus on ensuring services remain responsive, inclusive and sustainable.
 
Edith is a strong advocate for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services as a pathway to self-determination, cultural strength and improved health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people across the Kimberley.
