Iris Prouse

Deputy Chairperson

Iris Prouse is a highly respected Aboriginal community leader from Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and currently serves as Deputy Chairperson of Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS). She also holds the role of Deputy Chairperson of Kimberley Renal Services (KRS) and is a Director of the Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS).
Iris brings deep cultural knowledge, strong community connections and extensive experience across Aboriginal governance, environmental health and public health systems. Her previous roles include Manager of Environmental Health with the WA Country Health Service, membership of the WA Health Senior Aboriginal Leadership Group, and local government leadership as a Councillor and Deputy President of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley.
 
As Deputy Chairperson, Iris supports the Chair and Board in providing strong governance oversight, accountability and strategic direction, ensuring decisions remain grounded in cultural integrity and community priorities. She is widely respected for her calm, considered leadership style and her ability to bring a practical regional lens to complex governance and policy settings.
 
Iris is a passionate advocate for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and strongly believes in community-led, culturally safe approaches as the foundation for improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people across the Kimberley.
