Louie Bin Maarus

Secretary

Louie Bin Maarus is a respected Aboriginal leader from Beagle Bay in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and currently serves as Secretary of Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) and Kimberley Renal Services (KRS). A proud Nyul Nyul man, Louie brings deep cultural knowledge, strong community connections and extensive experience in Aboriginal governance to his leadership role.
 
Louie is the Chair of Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services (NEHS), Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) and Beagle Bay Futures Indigenous Corporation. He has decades of experience as a Senior Aboriginal Environmental Health Supervisor and has previously held roles across local government and community-led enterprises. His work reflects a strong commitment to improving environmental health outcomes, workforce development and training pathways in remote communities, particularly through Djaringo’s Indigenous Environmental Health training programs.
 
As Secretary, Louie provides strong governance support, contributing to strategic planning, accountability and effective Board processes. He is widely respected for his practical, community-based perspective and his ability to ensure decisions remain culturally grounded and responsive to community priorities.
 
Louie is a strong advocate for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and self-determination, and is committed to strengthening culturally safe, community-led services that improve long-term health and wellbeing outcomes for Kimberley communities.
