About
Melissa is a Ballardong, Whadjuk and Gija social worker and counsellor. Broome has been home for Melissa for the past 18 years and is a place where she has deadly family and community connections. Melissa loves working in the Kimberley region and this is her third time working with the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS).
Melissa’s previous roles include working in Health Promotions, clinical counselling with headspace Broome. Returning to KAMS as the Executive Manager Mental Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing
Melissa has an appreciation for the leadership and impact KAMS continues to demonstrate within the ACCHO sector and is proud to be part of a service that leads with cultural integrity, innovation, and community at its core. Melissa describes herself as someone who leads with both heart and head, guided by the belief that whatever you give energy to will grow, and that it’s important to always leave things better than you found them. These values underpin how she works with colleagues, communities, and partners.
