William Bangu

Director representing BACLG

William Bangu is a respected Aboriginal community leader from Bidyadanga in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and serves as a Director of Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) and Kimberley Renal Services (KRS). He brings strong cultural authority, community leadership and lived experience to his governance role, grounded in a deep connection to Country and community responsibility.
 
William is the Chairperson of the Bidyadanga Aboriginal Corporation La Grange (BACLG) and a Director of the Kulyakartu Aboriginal Corporation Registered Native Title Body Corporate. His leadership spans native title, community governance and service delivery, with a strong focus on strengthening locally led, community-controlled services. He has provided direct oversight of the Bidyadanga remote health centre, including its recent transition from management under KAMS to BACLG, bringing valuable insight into service integration, governance and sustainability.
 
As a Board Director, William contributes practical, on-the-ground perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing remote communities, particularly in relation to workforce development, training pathways and culturally safe service delivery. He supports strong governance, accountability and strategic planning aligned with ACCHS values.
 
William is a strong advocate for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and self-determination as key pathways to improving health, wellbeing and long-term outcomes for Aboriginal people across the Kimberley.
