Community Connector (CC) and Community Connector Coordinator (CCC) program

The CC and CCC Program work to support Aboriginal people with disability, their families, and communities to understand and access the NDIS in a culturally safe way.

Program Details

Community Connectors are local community members employed through Kimberley Supports Consortium Member Organisations. They are trusted, culturally knowledgeable people who:

  • Raise awareness and understanding of the NDIS within community;
  • Identify and engage Aboriginal people who may be eligible for NDIS support;
  • Refer people who want further help to the CCC program; and
  • Assist the NDIA and other organisations to connect and communicate effectively with community members.

Community Connector Coordinator program helps Aboriginal people navigate the NDIS access and planning process. CCC officers, based at local Aboriginal Medical Services, walk alongside participants by:

  • Supporting the completion of NDIS applications and gathering medical or functional evidence;
  • Communicating with NDIA representatives throughout the process;
  • Providing advocacy and guidance during planning; and
  • Helping link participants with local service providers once plans are approved.

Together, these programs ensure that Aboriginal people across the Kimberley can access the NDIS in ways that are community-led, culturally safe, and empowering.
