Located in Balgo (Wirrimanu)
Balgo (Wirrimanu) is one of Australian’s most remote Aboriginal communities located in the south-east Kimberley region of Western Australia on the northern edge of the Great Sandy Desert and on the western edge of the Tanami Desert. The Community is approximately 1100km east of Broome and 250km south of Halls Creek with a population of approximately 500 to 600.
Clinical services at Balgo Health Centre have been provided by KAMS since 2006.
Balgo Health Centre is a comprehensive Primary Health Care service staffed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Child Health Nurse, Midwife, Mental Health Nurse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, critical support staff drivers, receptionists, cleaners, GPs.
The Health Centre is closed to patients on Fridays from 12pm for staff professional development, auditing and administrative work.
