  • Strengthen sector relationships through four Lead Clinicians Forums each year.
  • Support, train and supervise junior doctors working in the Kimberley.
  • Advocate at regional, state and national levels on issues impacting Aboriginal health and the ACCHO model of care.
  • On request, KAMS Medical Director unit may undertake the following:
  • Provide medical workforce support, including recruitment, locums and additional medical staff (cost recovery).
  • Support clinical performance management and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist with clinical audits, incident reporting systems and service improvement.
  • Act as registered holder of the Poisons Licence and oversee legislative compliance.

GP Registrar Program

The Kimberley GP Aboriginal Health Training Program is a joint initiative of KAMS, RACGP and ACRRM, supporting GP Registrars to train in Aboriginal health and remote settings.

KAMS coordinates registrar recruitment, placement and supervision across remote clinics, Kimberley Renal Services, headspace and Member ACCHOs.

Public Health

KAMS delivers culturally informed public health programs focused on prevention, early intervention and community-led solutions.

Priority areas include sexual health, Tackling Indigenous Smoking, hearing health, rheumatic heart disease, men’s health, family and early childhood support, and chronic disease prevention initiatives such as the Kimberley Foot Initiative.

Our work is grounded in the ACCHS Model of Care, recognising the social, cultural and environmental determinants of health.
