The course provides you with entry level, industry specific skills and knowledge to help you get into further study within the Community Services or Health sectors at the Certificate III level, or to gain employment in the Community Services or Health Sector.

Course Details

You could work in allied health, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait primary health care or Indigenous environmental health in areas including aged care or disability support in a community care setting.

This course is a great way to set yourself up for a rewarding career! KAMS will be delivering this training package for the first time in 2026.

Entry Requirements

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services requires entrants to be 18 years of age and provide a certified copy or original of photo ID. Entrants must provide or be able to obtain:

  • National Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Immunisation records including proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Work Placement

This qualification includes 110 hours of work placement, so that participants can gain experience in a clinical and non-clinical setting.

Recognition of prior learning - $55.00 per unit

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as resource fees and other fees.

Where tuition fees are due, Certificates and Statement of Attainments will be withheld until payment for the enrolled training has been made in full.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units of competency = 9, including:

  • 6 core units
  • 3 elective units

Please note: All units and work placement hours must be completed to attain the full qualification.

Delivery

52890WA – Cert II in Community Health & Wellbeing will be delivered over a period of up to 6 months which consists of 9 one-week blocks of face-to-face delivery at North Regional TAFE in Kununurra, and up to 15 days of work experience placement.

Support Services

KAMS has identified a need to support our students with Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) in a culturally appropriate way. North Regional TAFE (08 9193 8943), through the Skills for Study (SFS) program, provides a TAFE Lecturer who supports our students in every study block.
